Derbyshire Motorbike School prides itself in offering excellent customer service and motorcycle training to the highest possible standards in a fun and informative environment. Our motorcycle training centre is located at Block 13 Unit 8, Amber Business Centre, Riddings, Alfreton, Derbyshire DE55 4BR. We are just 5 minutes from Junction 28 of the M1 and 15 minutes from Derby City Centre. We are open 7 days a week and we also offer weekday evening sessions during the summer months for those who may struggle to find time due to work/family commitments.
Derbyshire Motorbike School is a DVSA Accredited Training Body, all instructors are fully qualified DVSA Cardington accredited motorcycle instructors and hold the highest possible qualifications in motorcycle training and instruction. Derbyshire Motorbike School guarantees customers will receive motorcycle training to standards far higher than the required CBT or full test (DAS) standard, we pride ourselves on giving our customers skills for life not just to pass their CBT or full motorcycle test.
Superb Motorcycles and off road training facilities. Our Motorcycles are easy and fun to ride and are always in top condition for you. We use the latest Kawasaki ER6n motorcycles for full licence (DAS) and A2 restricted licence training and Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda and Peugeot motorcycles for Cbt training. Unlike other motorcycle schools we don't use school playgrounds for motorcycle training. Our off road training facilities are in private and pleasant surroundings away from the general public enabling us to offer training 7 days a week not just at weekends and also ensuring those who may be nervous of total privacy for their motorcycle training in a safe, fun and informative environment.
We guarantee your training will be fun! As well as being incredibly talented and patient our instructors have a great sense of humour so bring your sense of humour with you!
Although we are based in Derbyshire we are also very close to the North Nottinghamshire border enabling us to offer motorcycle training in both counties. For customers wishing to go forward to gaining their full motorcycle test its useful being not too far away from the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire test centres which enables us to train our customers in the area they maybe familiar with and where their test may be held at.
Basic Introductory Lessons. If you have never ridden a motorcycle a basic 1 hour lesson will get you riding and give you the necessary skills to be able to go forward and take your CBT (Compulsory Basic Training). For more information please contact us.
CBT (Compulsory Basic Training). If you wish to ride a motorcycle on the public highways you must first take and complete a CBT course. For detailed information please click on the CBT Button above.
Full Motorcycle Licence Training. Categories for full licence are:
A1 Licence – For riders aged 17 to 18 years of age you can take your test on motorcycles up to 125cc or 11kw (15bhp) in power.
A2 Licence – for riders 19 to 23 years of age you can take your test on motorcycles up to 35 kw (47bhp) in power.
Direct Access – Riders Over 24 years of age (or riders who have held an A2 Licence for 2 years) are eligible for the Direct Access Scheme which will enable you to ride a motorcycle of any capacity and power output.
For A1 or A2 licence holders there is no longer an automatic upgrade after a 2-year qualifying period. If you wish to upgrade to a higher-powered motorcycle you must take modules 1 and 2 again on a higher-powered machine, there is no need to retake CBT or the theory test.
CBT Plus. CBT Plus is a 3-hour motorcycle training course that shows new riders how to survive the challenges they will face while out on the road.
Enhanced Rider Scheme. Get more fun out of your riding and your motorcycle. With advanced motorcycle training we can make your riding more enjoyable. You can also get insurance discounts with most motorcycle insurance brokers.
Back to Bike. Returning to motorcycling after a break of a few years? Or maybe you've had an accident/near miss and need some training to build up your confidence. Our Back to Bike course will have you riding with confidence in just a few short hours and give you back the skills you have maybe forgotten about or skills that need rebuilding.
